Working on a Teaching Vision for school – current draft is below – feedback is welcome!
I want my students to ask, “Why?”
I want them to understand that asking questions is more important than finding answers.
I want my students to learn that true empathy is difficult.
I want them to try to understand.
I want them to discover that understanding takes effort.
I want my students to be comfortable feeling uncomfortable.
I want them to feel it’s OK to be flawed.
I want my students to know that someone cares.
I want them to care enough to give their best.
I want my students to never be satisfied.
I want feedback to be more important than grades.
I want the process to be just as important as the product.
I want my students to be proud of what they create.
I want them to work harder than they ever thought possible.
I want them to believe that failure is its own teacher.
I want my students to confront injustice.
I want them to know it’s OK to be angry.
I want them to work to set the world right.
I want my students to look through others’ eyes.
I want my students to be surprised.
I want them to be curious.
I want my students to ask, “Why?”
